London's West End has delivered a record breaking year at the box office for 2017. New figures released by the Society Of London Theatre (SOLT) revealed that total attendance for the year surpassed 15 million for the first time since the organisation began collecting audience data in 1986. Box office revenues also exceeded £700,000,000.

World Travel Market 2016 was recorded as the most successful to date, with over 51,000 participants over the three-day event (a 4% increase year on year). The new structure for the event allowed for more than 865,500 on stand connections to take place, promoting to both trade and press.

This past weekend saw the 25th Annual AGTO Showcase at the Dunstan Hall Hotel in Norwich, the three day event provided a platform for networking, teaching and strategic development for delegates representing a nation of group travel organisers. New figures released show that inbound visits to the UK are up 25 million, from January to August of this year. This is an increase of 3% year-on-year with spending by visitors during this period at a record £14.6 billion.

The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) is a trade association that was formed to represent and defend the business and regulatory public policy interests of travel intermediaries.
Its members include travel agents and supplier companies who offer travel products and services such as tours, cruises, hotels, destinations, tourist bureaus, ground transport, car rentals, local guides and hosts. ASTA aims to act as an advocate for travel agents, the travel industry and the traveling public.
made showcased our clients to key Australian travel trade on VisitBritain’s three-city Australian roadshow that took place in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Last night made co-hosted a networking event on behalf of the British Educational Travel Association (BETA) the umbrella body representing producers and suppliers of youth, student and educational travel related products. Youth tour operators and wholesalers attended a drinks reception at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! followed by a ticket to the hit West End musical Jersey Boys.
The evening also saw the launch of a new educational product, 'Jersey Boys themed workshops' from BETA member Theatre Workout. Theatre Workout is a specialist in creating bespoke drama and theatre workshops, events and hospitality for youth and adult groups in London's West End.

Prominent tourism firms (including made) took part in the first UK Pavilion to be held at WTM Latin America (29 - 31 March 2016).
Taking place in São Paulo, Brazil, this year’s WTM Latin America was the first time since 2010 that many of the UK participants have been in the Latin American market.

The one-day group travel show Excursions™ 2016 attracted over 270 exhibitors from the UK and mainland Europe last weekend (January 23).
Of those exhibitors, 19% were booking space for the first time, including attractions, destinations, accommodation providers and tour operators.
There was also a significant increase in UK exhibitors from further afield including the Midlands, North East and South West.
Over 1,100 visitors packed the Great Hall, many of whom were first-time attendees.
From the 12-17 January, John Corellis represented made and our clients at Vakantiebeurs, alongside City Cruises, Ripley’s believe it or not and the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum and Tours.
Last Saturday’s event at The Copperbox Arena in London’s Olympic Park attracted well over 650 GTOs & Travel Trade Executives form all parts of the group travel sector including quite a few new group buyers.

AGTO is an independent organisation representing the interests of those who organise tours and trips for groups as well as those who provide services for group travel.
Over 200 supplier members including made and Encore tickets met with Group Travel Organisers providing them with information on everything from tours, hotels and destinations to museums, galleries, theatre tickets and attractions.
The event was extra special as the film and subsequent musical Kinky Boots are based on a true story that has its origins in the Earls Barton shoe factory, which is in fact just outside of the town of Northampton!

Last night we joined the Coach Tourism Council (CTC) at their annual Christmas social in Sunderland. The Coach Tourism Council promotes travel and tourism by coach. They work with over 150 companies and organisations who are also members. They include national and regional tourist offices, attractions and destinations, hotels, tour wholesalers, ferry and fixed link operators, ports, ticket agencies and professional advisers. The event was sponsored by our client EXHIBITIONISM the first ever major exhibition about the The Rolling Stones at London’s prestigious Saatchi Gallery. Today we are presenting London’s cultural offerings to Chinese Travel Companies in the city of Wuhan. Pictured on the banks of Wuhan's famous East Lake are Jonathan Mountford of made tourism marketing, Equal Han of China Holidays & Hello Britain, Ashley Jones of Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum and Ana Araque form The View from the Shard. The lake covers an area of 88 square kilometres and is visited by over 1 million people yearly.
Today we have teamed up with Leisure Connect to exhibit at the Signature Sales Meeting & Trade Show that is being held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, Las Vegas. This annual conference brings together over 2,000 travel industry professionals, including Signature frontline travel consultants, managers and agency owners, as well as their supplier partners to network, connect and learn from each other.
Tonight made hosted the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association's World Travel Market party at Ku Klub in Chinatown. IGLTA is a gay-friendly global travel network dedicated to connecting lesbian, bisexual and transgender travelers to the businesses that welcome and support them. We also raised over a thousand dollars for the IGLTA Foundation.

Yesterday we hosted the American Society of Travel Agents, World Travel Market, International Chapter Presidents Dinner onboard the Sunborn Yacht Hotel. The event was sponsored by made and included a five course meal on the upscale yacht hotel moored at the Royal Victoria Dock and adjacent to the ExCel London convention centre.
Today made's John Bridge has been busy at World Travel Market working the Broadway Inbound booth located on the NYC & Company stand. NYC & Company is New York City's official marketing, tourism and partnership organisation. Their mission is to maximize travel and tourism opportunities throughout the five boroughs, build economic prosperity and spread the dynamic image of New York City around the world.
Meanwhile made's Natalie Browne has also been busy representing New York's One World Observatory, Metropolitan Museum of Art and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

On Saturday 31 October, we showcased the creative strength of British theatre to a delegate of Chinese travel trade, working with VisitBritain we hosted a delegation of 30 at a performance of ‘La boheme’ at English National Opera in Central London. This fam trip came close after the State Visit to Britain by The President of The People's Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping.

Readers of Group Leisure magazine voted for the best companies, attractions, destinations and individuals in group travel and leisure at the 19th annual Group Leisure Awards, which took place on Wednesday 21 October at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in front of 350 guests.
Trophies were handed out for accolades such as Best Airline, Best Cruise Line and Best UK Attraction, which were won by Ryanair, Norwegian Cruise Line and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard respectively.
In a year when London has reported a large increase in visitor numbers the capital took home its fair share of awards yet again. Today VisitBritain launched their annual review (at London's Methodist Central Hall) announcing that international visitors have spent an extra £2.5 billion in Britain during the last four years as a result of their work. This beats the target set for it by the Government in 2011 by more than half a billion pounds, and means that every £1 invested in VisitBritain’s activities has resulted in an overseas visitor spending £21 in Britain. And to this can be added the £630 million delivered by VisitBritain, thanks to thir continuing role as a partner in the cross-UK Government GREAT campaign.
